Be Reel: What's to hate about the Hateful Eight?

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is having a pleasant snow day and I hope to see everyone on Monday. While we are on the topic of snow I thought that I would take advantage of this snow day and revisit in my mind one of the best Quentin Tarantino movies the eighth film by the man himself the Hateful Eight. Why I believe the Hateful Eight so good is for a few reasons; although it has a rather long run time most of that time is done building the story, characters, and plot. Also this is a Tarantino film you bet that it has an R rating attached to it for both language and violence. Might I also add that this films dialogue is not only relevant to the times but compelling at times as well.
For those of you who don't really know what I am talking about the The Hateful Eight is a western film directed by Quentin Tarantino. The film takes place not long after the civil war and follows bounty hunters John "The Hang Man" Ruth played by Kurt Russel and Major Mark Warren played by none other that Samuel L. Jackson trying to navigate a snow storm and seek harbor at a local Haberdashery. During this traveling sequence John Ruth is caring the menacing Daisy Domergue played by Jennifer Jason Leigh a bounty that he has collected and constantly boasts of how he will see her hang. The story then takes a turn as the two start to pick up unexpected travelers and to also find that the haberdashery is frequented by unexpected guests. All while a raging snow storm keeps them in the haberdashery as paranoia and mistrust starts to set in.
Ascetically speaking this film has got some striking visuals to it that help to convey the darker mysterious tone of the narrative. For example several cuts within the film are cuts on action and usually contain the horse carriage in which our travelers are in and the seemingly endless mountains of snow. This helps to really set up the theme of how nobody can be trusted and the themes of isolation and paranoia. Plus because this is a Tarantino flick the monologues are great in particular Major Warren's  bounty monologue and the Lincoln letter. All in all the next time you guys have some down time (or maybe a snow day) I highly recommend seeing the paranoia filled Hateful Eight. And for movies like the Hateful Eight be sure to check out:
The Thing (1982)
Alien
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The Wickerman
The Manchurian Candidate
