Patriot's Day: An Instant American Classic

Patriot's Day, starring Mark Wahlberg, does a tremendous job in illustrating the malignant and everlasting impact that the Boston bombers had on not only the city of Boston, but the whole country. The film speaks out forcefully about the trouble of home grown terrorism, as the bombers were from Boston and were corrupted by radical idealists. The film was made after the occurrence of the bombing, and serves as a symbol of the strength of Americans, as well as a symbol of the heartless philosophy of terrorists around the world. With that being said, a great slogan for the movie can be, "Hit me 9 times, and I'll get back up 10."

From the symbol of strength of Americans in the film, we, as the audience of the film, are forced to come to the conclusion that the theme is to stay strong and keep your head up no matter what the circumstances may be. We see this as runners and bystanders at the race worked hard to train for the event, and then had to work even harder to get healthy after the event, whether they needed amputated legs or whatever else. Also, in the film, Wahlburg and his team stayed together for the greater good, no matter how many deaths of other police officers were recorded. Obviously, the police officers were scared, but they needed to protect their city and country, and that appeals to one of the overall themes of the movie: Stay strong and keep your head up no matter what the circumstances are.

The second theme that popped up in and out and throughout the film was the fact that the ideals taught to humans from their childhood will determine the rest of their lives. Terrorists are often times radical Muslims who are taught that everyone that is not like them should not be here, and that is seen in the film, and explicated with the two Boston bombers. They were regular kids, but they had a different come up, and had messed up minds, even though they seemed so normal.

Overall, the film has had great success when it comes to a monetary or economic goal, as it has its funny parts, sad parts, and inspirational parts, in order to appeal to the emotions and enjoyment of various types of people around the world. A Mark Wahlburg fan would love the movie, a fan of comedies would love the movie, a fan of thrillers would love the movie, etc...

Mark Wahlburg has starred in many comedies, like Ted and Ted 2. So, he is known to be a funny actor, and the director does a great job of implementing comedy into his character, no matter what role he plays. For example, Wahlburg will crack subtle jobs throughout the film, and that serves the purpose of lightening the mood and tone of the film in such a way for people to enjoy it, even though the overall plot of the film is tragic and devastating.

Obviously, with the Boston bombing being such a tragic event like all terrorist attacks, the film had to have its sad parts. Seeing people drop dead and suffer life altering injuries and illnesses is heartbreaking, and the director did a tremendous job implementing sad music and dark colors during the sad parts of the movie in order to keep people engaged through pathos, as the director appealed to the emotional aspect of film.

Lastly, the film had many inspirational parts that allowed the viewer to enjoy what they were watching, as we as Americans love to see a great American story, where we rise above evil. Evil in this case is seen in the Boston bombers, and we as Americans came together in the aftermath and rose above it. While we don't necessarily want to have to lose Americans and stay strong after, sometimes we have to, and the film did an outstanding job overall in explicating that very idea.

In conclusion, Patriot's Day can be seen by many as an instant American classic. The lengthy film illustrates colorfully the horrors of the terrorist attack, and shows the positive and negative impacts of society in the aftermath. The country came together after the Boston bombing, much like the way the country did after the events on September 11, 2001, when Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda terrorized our country. In addition to that, the film shows how radical groups in the Middle East corrupt Americans with their terrorism videos. The elder Boston bomber was inspired by the radical terrorists, and even though his younger brother was not engaged in that, he forced him to go through with the bombing as well.

In the end I would most definitely grant the film with a good good review. The graphics, music, actors, scenes, and accuracy were on point. Also, the film is incredibly filled with action, as we see in the gun fight scene between the bombers and the Boston police officers. The action appeals to people's overall enjoyment of the film, and explains why I would give the film a good good rating overall.
