Hello everyone today in class we discussed the elements of mis-en-sen which again is following are larger objective to analyze film more thoroughly . we started class reviewing first the process in which to put up these blogs. after that We went into a discussion about what mis en sen was. We started this discussion by watching a short clip on mis en sen. from this video we could determine that mis en sen was a variety of key elements in movies. the dominant keys in mis en sen is to look at shot angle and color and size. Using those you can Define a scene in a movie. The reason why mis en sen is important to know is because if you use a small clip of any movie you can understand multiple things such as antagonist and protagonist or mood of the film and many other things can be found using this technique. After that the class looked at several examples and how we define for themselves and what elements of mis en sen are present. that is a general summary of what happened in class today. Here's the video link for anybody who'd like to rewatch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PISrB3b77Uk.
Now what I found most interesting about this new technique Of analyzing movies is the fact that you can learn so much from so little I feel like I can watch 10 minutes of a movie and understand the whole entire story line. now in my group we discussed what was the most important thing about mis en sen and we came to the general viewpoint that color contrasting is one of the most important parts of mis en sen. I hope that we dive into this more in class on Monday because I feel like it could help me personally gain a greater interest into movies. now I my opinion a film I have ever watched that has elements of mis en sen is the movie Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2 the director has used those elements in mis en sen perfectly. That is a few of my personal opinions on what we learned I hope you find this useful thank you for reading.
Hey Kyle,
ReplyDeleteSuper informative! Really great way to share our specific class with the students who were absent. Love the link and the logical paragraph breaks. Maybe next time you could include an image or clip from Kill Bill so we could see what you really mean in terms of mise-en-scene.
