During the summer I was stuck on a plane for 7 hours. I was making a list of all the films I would watch on the flight I was on and my returning flight. I made a list of new movies I haven't seen, some old classics that I missed and then I saw the original and the newest Fast and The Furious where on the list so I decided to compare the two. I watched the original movie first, The visuals of the movie don’t really hold up but the plot itself is very good. The film left me in suspense, something that the newer Fast movies completely fail to do. The character development is very good and with a smaller cast It was easy to Identify and get to know each of the main characters, something that the new movies lack. In F8 I was constantly forgetting characters names and in the end resorted to call the characters by their actors names’
Personally I loved the first Fast in the Furious it is just the right mixture of street racing crime drama and heist film. I cared about all of the characters and I felt that there was a lot of chemistry between them, But in F8 everything felt forced the character just settled into worn out roles and i feel as though they just phoned in their performances for an easy paycheck. F8 failed to capture the story telling and charm of the original film. I feel as the Fast and Furious series should have ended after the second one. The film series is now nothing more than a studio cash grab and I feel as tho they will milk this series until they stop making a profit. But I don't think that will happen anytime soon.
