Daily Log Blog - 6/7/18

Today in class my group worked on editing and we also worked on the press release. This project has taught me many things. It has taught me that even if you have a really great idea in your head it can be extremely hard to take that idea out of your head and put it into a paper or into any other form of literature. Another thing I have learned from this project is that editing is extremely tedious and hard and the only thing that can make it easier is if you have really detailed plans laid out that you can follow step by step. Sadly my group did not have this so editing has been pretty rough so far. We have been using WeVideo for our editing and although it's pretty user friendly it runs very slow and lags a lot on the chromebook so I would suggest editing on a desktop computer if possible. I definitely have learned that leaving things like editing till the end is not a good idea and ends up causing a lot of unnecessary stress. I have a lot of editing to do for my film because one of the actors in my film felt like they had throw obscenities in every single sentence so the duty of removing them was bestowed on me. This is an example where planning would have really helped me because if I told this actor, “please dont curse in every single sentence you have” I wouldn’t be editing out all of his colorful vocabulary out. I’ve definitely learned a lot from this project and even though editing is tedious I really enjoyed making the movie and trying to make a good plot. I think if I had another chance to start from scratch and have multiple months to make a film I would really enjoy doing it.
