DAILY BLOG: 2/5
When we got into class, Mr. Rivers started off by saying how we created a list of things to do for our senior papers. It could be challenging, but at the end of the class period he told us to ask ourselves what we are in the middle of doing and what to start next to make a point of momentum for our papers. He told us to take the degree of control over our work, and stay on top of what we do. Use your time effectively when doing research, and minimize downtime. Then, we looked at the doc on classroom of the functions of editing. It is important to use editing techniques as cinematic evidence for your research paper and how it effect narrative, thematic, and practical components. Think about being specific and diving deep into your work when doing your paper. Don’t be general, be specific and use mise en scene, editing techniques, and structure to help explain things. We then continued research for the day.
The biggest thing I learned today was to create a point of momentum for the work on my paper. This made me think about how I have had a habit of ending the class without a goal or plan for the next class, allowing me to have no momentum to progress on my paper. By ending my time in class to plan for the next one, I now know what I need to work on in the next class to get the most out of my time for class work. This helped me realize how if I have a long term project in school or outside of school, I need to conclude my day of work with a summary of what I have done and what needs to be done so I will be able to continue my work by valuing my time.
