Hello Classmates,

Today in class we concluded Baby Driver. Before we could do that though, Mr.Rivers asked us if we had any questions about our Senior Paper as he usually does. Surprisingly, no one had a question so we then went right into discussing our assignment for Baby Driver. Mr.Rivers said that since we will finish the movie today that we should have our assignment done before class tomorrow. He clarified what we had to do which is to look at the editing choices made throughout the film and select one for each day of the film. We also have to look at how music develops theme and what other types of genres this movie could be. Once this was over we continued to watch Baby Driver.

We left off yesterday with Baby telling Doc he wants to go through with the heist. When the movie started again today Baby is in a car attempting to leave at 2 am. Buddy appears out of nowhere and confronts Baby by asking him if he's trying to back out. Baby quickly responds by saying he isn't doing anything wrong he's just listening to music and getting a feel for the car and Buddy is still suspicious. Bats jumps in the car and questions both of them. Baby said he's just going to get coffee and Buddy smartly backs him up but Bats wasn't buying it. He pulled a gun on Baby but Baby convinced him to put it down. Bats still punches him in the jaw and Baby is knocked out. When he wakes up he is at the table where Doc discusses the plans for each heist. On the table is all of Baby's tapes and Bats comes rolling in on Joseph's wheelchair. Baby freaks out because he doesn't know what they did to Joseph. They all play a few of the tapes to make sure nothing fishy is going on and Baby is cleared. Doc says they will go through with the heist tomorrow. The next day, Buddy, Bats, Darling, and Baby all get in the car to rob the post office. Darling gets out first, followed by Buddy, then Baby drives around the back and lets Bats out. They all run back to the car and Baby doesn't move the car. They all start screaming at him to move as we hear sirens coming. Bats tells Baby to drive or in 3 seconds he is going to put a bullet in the back of his head. At about 2.8 seconds Baby accelerates forward, smashes the car into a big truck, and a pole in the back of the truck goes through the windshield and impales Bats and kills him. Buddy and Darling are shocked and get out of the car and run. Baby also gets out and runs and the cops are hot on their trails. Eventually they all get tracked to a parking lot and Baby stole one car while Buddy and Darling stole another. They crash into each other trying to back out and the cops close in. Soon, a gunfight happens and Darling gets shot and dies. Buddy loses it and kills the cops and then takes aim at Baby. Baby gets away and puts Joseph in an assisted living home while he's on the run. Baby then goes to pick up Debora so they can finally leave but when he walks in Buddy is sitting right there at the bar. They have your typical drawn out conversation how everything is over for the protagonist (Baby) and then as Buddy is pulling his gun we hear sirens outside. An officer walks in as comedic relief and asks where the bathroom is. Before Buddy could try and strike again Baby shoots him in the shoulder and runs. The cop comes out and asks Buddy if he's alright and He shoots and kills the cop. Baby and Deborah escape and call Doc. Doc at first refuses to help but when Baby shows up with Deborah then Doc complies. He gives Baby all the cassette tapes back and Baby gives Doc the money. As they're leaving we hear yet another siren but in the car is no cop. It's Buddy. Doc tells Baby and Debora to run as he will handle it. He tries to shoot at Buddy but misses and Buddy runs him over instantly killing him. Buddy and Baby then go on a long chase of trying to kill each other but Baby came up with a good plan. He puts Debora outside and Buddy thinks he has a free shot at her but Baby is in an SUV and he hits the front of Buddy's car. Buddy's car goes backwards and falls off the edge of a 5 story building. Somehow Buddy escaped and sneaks up on them. Instead of killing Baby he shoots two bullets right next to his ears so he can't hear and Baby fell to the ground immobilized. Debora was watching this and as it happened she grabbed a crowbar and hit Buddy's gun out of his hand. Baby picked it up and shot and killed Buddy. They escaped alive and free of the police. Baby did pass out though and he woke up to Debora driving. She drove right into a police roadblock and Buddy got out and turned himself in. Somehow he was only given 25 years in prison and parole after 5 years. He got his parole and Baby and Debora lived happily ever after.

This film can be applied outside of class because this movie won Best Editing. In class we have to do an assignment about editing and how fitting we're doing it on the best edited movie of the year! Baby Driver was a great movie and one that deserves all the credit it got a lot of it thanks to its editing.
