Podcast Reflection Day
Today when we came into class we were instructed to take out our Chromebooks and a pair of ear buds. The purpose of today's class period was to listen to and reflect on not only the podcasts we recorded on Friday, but the podcast of a different student-group. An assignment was posted on the Google Classroom that requested a reflection on your own group's podcast. Mr. Rivers also assigned a reflection of another group's podcast to be posted by each student on the class blog page. The parameters of both assignments are included in the table below. (The information on this table was shown to the class from a google slides presentation)

We were given the majority of the period to work individually on these assignments. I started by listening to my podcast: "Episode 1: Welcome to the Jam by 90 Reasons Why." My reflection consisted of detailing the elements that detracted from the effectiveness of the podcast, such as nervous laughter, and evaluating whether or not we met the specific goals we set for ourselves. I then moved on to listen to another podcast: "Is Ron Burgundy as good as they say he is? by Dummo and Rice." This podcast was very entertaining, however the bell rang before I could draft a response to the Peer Podcast Blog Post assignment.
Being able to analyze conversation is a skill that will help us throughout our entire lives. We are soon to graduate and move on to college. This transition will leave most of us leading our own lives. Through the analysis of conversation through our podcast exploration, we are better preparing ourselves for the responsibilities we are soon to bear on our own.
