Be Real Blog

I watched Wonder Women two weekends ago.  Usually I hate anything marvel, but my aunt told me when she watched it that she liked it and she isn't into marvel movies either.  I watched the movie and ended up liking it a lot.  The movie starts off with the main character Diana as a young girl and her mom showing her things that she in curious about.  As the movie goes on we watch Diana grow older and progress into a woman.  Throughout the movie you get to feel like you know the character Diana.  Diana's mother is hiding something from her that she will never tell her, because if she does it will put her into more danger than she already was.  Diana thinks she has to defeat Aries, but as the movie goes on you will find more out about who she has to fight.  The lighting throughout the movie plays a role in if the day is going to be a good one or bad.  If the day is dark then the day won't be so good and when the day was bright the day was good.  The setting is in United Kingdom (London) and the Themyscira (Paradise Island) during World War One.  Music also plays a role in the movie.  It comes into play on how the scene is going to play out.  When the depressing music came on you knew something was going to happen that you were not going to like.  When the music got intense it usually meant there was a fight going to happen.  If you are not into marvel I still suggest you watch  it.  The saying you can't judge a book off its cover even plays into movies.  I will say if you do not like romance, fighting, or death then I wouldn't suggest the movie for you, because fighting is the biggest action that happens.  A lot of characters that I ended up liking ended up dying which was very depressing.

  1. I love the introduction to this post because it provides us with a sense of context. We get to know how YOU felt going into the film. Developing an awareness of our personal expectations are an important part of subjective analysis, and the fact that you expected not to like this movie is significant! Consider how you could keep building some of that subjective work through some more specific details. For example, what scenes drew you in? Was it the setting or the character’s progress from child→ woman that changed your mind? How is it different from Marvel movies? (Wonder Woman, by the way, is a product of DC Comics and not Marvel Comics, btw). Consider also how you can use multiple paragraphs to break this information down more logically (whether you’re showing progress across the film or switching from subjective to objective evaluation). Make sure you’re USING the evidence you’ve posted in your actual evaluation. You included the trailer, so include that (or some component of it) in your post itself. A bit short (should be 300-500 words).

  2. First of all Wonder Woman is a DC movie not Marvel. This aside I generally agree with your praise of this movie but I feel you didn’t praise it enough. Compared to other DC films it is the best one. All the other DC movies have just too much down time for an action movie. The majority of the time spent in DC movies is just character and plot development. Even though this is important it should not overshadow the action like it did in all other DC movies. This is comparable to the Lord of the Rings books where there is just too much uneventful scenes that just bring the books to a screeching halt. This is why Wonder Woman is much better than all the other DC movies. Instead of spending all of the time on plot development, Wonder Woman becomes more mainstream by adding an appropriate amount of action scenes. This helps to make Wonder Woman much more enjoyable compared to other DC movie and this gives me hope for the DC universe. Hopefully DC realized how bad their previous movies were and will change their future movies to become much more enjoyable.
