Shannon Kehoe Be Reel: Saw

Be Reel: Saw

I watched the movie saw earlier this morning and I am not the kind of person who enjoys horror movies at all. But this horror movie was completely different than any others I have watched which are a minimum. What attracted me to this film was the psychological factor of it. The movie really made you think and it wasn't all gory and just completely blown out of the water with blood. There are seven movies in the entire Saw series and I plan to watch all of them. The premise of the movie goes along these lines: This psychotic manipulator ( I don't want to call him a murderer because he has never killed anyone) kidnaps people who he feels are either living their life the wrong way or are doing things that harm their minds and bodies, and he puts them in a test to see if they can go so far to save themselves even if that means that they need to kill an innocent person. The effects that were chosen in this movie made it 10 times better because the director uses shadows in a way where you, the audience is disoriented and can't see exactly what is going on. Also the choices of music were amazing in the sense that it really made your heart pump and your adrenaline run which adds to the whole psychological factor of the film. The ending of the movie is one of the most shocking endings I have ever seen and it will not easily be forgotten because it is one of the most epic cliff hangers I have ever experienced. I hope you enjoy reading this and watching Saw!

  1. Clear description of the movie, but think about how your writing skills can elevate the quality of this post. Choosing to create multiple paragraphs or bring in specific scenes would have given us a much clearer understanding of what’s happening in this film. You give the premise, which is great, and examine some good choices, but think about how you can organize these observations into deliberate paragraphs. Conversational is good, but this feels more like a stream of conscience writing exercise. Please also make sure that you provide some kind of ranking for the film (good good?) in your actual analysis.
