Back to the Future's 3 Act Structure 12/14/18

When analyzing film, a person's perspective affects the way they perceive the movie. A particle physicist who's watching a movie may have a different opinion than a philosopher who's also watching that movie. That's why during today and next week we're watching Back to the Future, our goal is to analyze various academic lenses a person may have while watching the film. The idea is to think about an opinion an academic scholar may have on the film, and come up with a fake tweet on what you think they might say. While doing that we have to find three parts of the three act structure in the movie, write them down and analyze how they impact the movie. Other than that we'll be watching and fake tweeting for most of next week until we finish the movie. I don't find the assignment to be too difficult because it's easier that we only have to find three parts of the three act structure rather than the whole thing, and it's more infuriating to analyze an almost two hour movie than a six minute short feature. In the end we're all gonna compile our findings to form the whole three act structure as a class.

The purpose of coming up with fake tweets is to have a starting point for our senior papers, which we'll have to write soon. The senior papers revolve around writing an essay around a common academic lens, and cite evidence from any film of our choice to support said academic lens, but in this instance we're writing a simple tweet and not a giant essay. Other than that, that's pretty much the whole premise, there's three points on three act structure, and four fake tweets on academic lenses to write. We should be finished watching by this Wednesday, and start senior papers when we come back from break. And don't forget about the Be Reel Blogs!
