Looking at Act 2 of Back to the Future

Today in class we continued to watch the film Back to the Future that we started watching Friday in class. Students should keep in mind that while they’re watching the movie that should take notes that will help them complete the Academic Lens Tweets assignment that can be found on google classroom. For the first part that looks at the three act structure of the film, we have gone past Act one in the film. If you did not get a point for act one it’s recommended that you try to reflect and think back to the first day of watching the film. The second part of the assignment that requires you use an academic lens for each day. However, it may carry on into five days. If that’s the case, just make sure you have four different lenses applied to the film.

Other than the film assignment, students should be aware of two other due dates coming up. The first involves looking back at the Ready Player One letter we wrote in class and making edits. In addition to edits it should be evaluated for content, organization, voice and style, and lastly evidence used. That assignment is due Friday at midnight. The Be Reel Blog is due on December thirty first and if you don’t want work over the break, it’s strongly advised you finish it by Friday but not required.

The class has been consistently practicing applying lenses to film, which is an important skill to have for a successful academic career. The same idea that one must have these skills for college and other forms of study still applies to what we did today as it did Friday. Also, recognizing a three act structure can help to evaluate any kind of text and further one’s understanding. Therefore, this is a skill we should be retaining rather than just learning now and forgetting later.
