For my first Be Reel Blog, I decided to watch Billy Madison. Billy Madison stars Adam Sandler, who is known for his witty comedy and seemingly absurd antics. In the film, Billy Madison is the son of a rich man, and hasn't had to work for anything in his life. In fact, his dad paid off his teachers in order for his to get through school. Billy wants to take over his father's business, and there is another man coming for his spot. The other man decides to complain to Mr. Madison, and explain that Billy is not qualified for the position. To compete with that, Billy is sent back to school to repeat all grades of school. The director of the film uses a sarcastic tone and an unrealistic situation in order to further entertain people who are looking for a funny movie.
In my opinion, the film was hilarious. I love extremely stupid movies, and Billy Madison exemplifies that. The film may not be critically acclaimed, as it does not have a lot of amazing content, but it is a great late night comedy, or something to watch to boost your spirits. The overall plot of the movie goes from step to step, and keeps the audience guessing what will happen next. I like the comedic suspense that is shown in the film, and i would give the film a bad good rating. The film is poorly made, and not critically acclaimed, so that is why I would give it the initial bad rating. In opposition to that, the film is extremely entertaining and funny, so that is why i gave it the second good rating.

  1. In addition to being late, this review feels a bit... rushed? It isn't even 300 words, you have lowercase letters where there should be uppercase letters, and the details are sparse at best. Did you wait until the last minute? There's PLENTY to review about Billy Madison, but this feels pretty surface level. Consider how your objective paragraph can still EVALUATE text instead of just describing it (which is too neutral for a review). Subjectively, I'd love to know more about what you love and don't love. Comedic suspense? Is that the academic decathalon? Hard to know what you find works (and doesn't work) about this film. Also missing a title.
