Did you get your shield? I should hope so, how else are you going to defeat medusa? At the very beginning of class, before you even entered the classroom, Mr. Rivers handed you a paper that had a shield on it or The Shield of Perseus. Going from top to bottom, of the shield, represents the positive and negative (top being positive, bottom being negative). Towards the left is the past and going to the right goes more into the future. Right in the center of the shield represents the present, or 2018.
For the majority of the class we watched the beginning of Wall E. But before that we looked at a quote from Ray Bradbury that had to do with science fiction.
“Science fiction is the fiction of ideas. Ideas excite me, and as soon as I get excited, the adrenaline gets going and the next thing I know I’m borrowing energy from the ideas themselves. Science fiction is any idea that occurs in the head and doesn’t exist yet, but soon will, and will change everything for everybody, and nothing will ever be the same again. As soon as you have an idea that changes some small part of the world you are writing science fiction. It is always the art of the possible, never the impossible.”
A perfect example of this is when Perseus uses the shield to kill Medusa. He doesn't just use it to protect himself, but, he also uses it to see Medusa's reflection. Perseus knows from past events that if he looks at Medusa, he will be turned to stone.
I love the title! Great tone throughout and you've got strong paragraphs to divide the information naturally. A couple of things to consider: the quote you have is not the one that we looked at in class! That presents a pretty clear problem (re: explaining what students missed in class) but also presents a great opportunity (re: your extension of the class learning). Remember that the blog should extend out into the real world and that Bradbury quote might have been a great way to build upon the learning we did in class.
