10/23/2018 Daily Blog-Jerry Ghong

Today in class we were given 12 minutes to write a single paragraph that synthesized the tones from RPO and Wall-E regarding the future. Students were able to use the following to help aid them through the paragraph; "your notes, your texts, the tone list, and anything else that belongs to you. All and any outside information will be considered cheating." After the 12 minutes, Mr. Rivers began his lesson about TURNITIN.com, he taught us how to use the app and what our class enrollment code was.

The class ID: 19474783
Enrollment Key: 123frodo

After logging in to turnitin.com, the students were told to hand in a "test" document via turnitin.com, that way the students would feel comfortable with the app.

After disscuing and playing around with TURNITIN.com, Mr.Rivers guided the classes' attention to proper MLA formatting. His lesson on the proper MLA formatting involved what the correct text size should be, the type of text, and how to set up the header.

Text size: "Size 12, Times New Roman"

The way to setup a proper heading should be as followed

Name
Teacher Name
Class
Date (due date)

A key tip to remember
"use CTRL A to select all. Otherwise your text will go back to ARIAL"- Mr. Rivers

TimesNewRoman > Arial

  1. Good details here, Jerry. Especially in terms of MLA format and TurnItin.com, these are the kinds of details that students who missed class need to know. Don't forget the extension! Part of your blog should connect our classroom learning to the world outside. Title should be a bit more unique as well. Keep pushing!
