Undercover Boss

Be Real Blog Post
Undercover Boss

The show Undercover Boss is about a CEO of a famous successful company going undercover for a week. The Boss takes on a couple of different jobs that goes into making the company successful. For an example the Undercover Boss could work at 7-Eleven and work at the chasregestor, or work alongside the manager of the 7-eleven. The other employees weren’t informed that the training worker (aka the CEO) alongside of them. This aloud the workers to be completely candid. The undercover boss would leave his family for a week and assume a new identity. This identity came along with a new look, usually a terrible fitting wig that looked ridiculous. The show must not have had the biggest budget, since sometimes in the show the boss’s real identity would become known to the workers. The boss’s identity would become known when his or her wig might have happened to accidently slip off.  The goal is to gain valuable information about how the business is running. While learning from the people who follow or don’t follow the CEO’s rules. The show shows many different layers of the company which could be valuable information for any consumers. The audience will see if the workers of this company follow the guidelines and rules set by the company. The audience also gets honest feedback from the employees about how the business is running and how the products are made.

The show is entertaining since the employees can be 100% honest with the audience. Sometimes the employees are too honest and get fired. Other times the employees are rewarded with vacations or college money for their children. The show could be formatted differently to achieve a good/good ratting. Although Id have to say the show is Bad/Good, since the show doesn’t always have the undercover boss go undetected. Some episodes of has the undercover boss uncovered within 15 min of the start of the show. Then there are times when the workers know the boss is trying to be undercover but they play along with it. The employees at this point clearly know they are on undercover boss and start acting different. Before the employee knew it was the CEO of the company they would slack off and get by with minimal work. Though when they realized its the boss they start working harder and trying to get more information out of the CEO.

  1. Lots of good info in here, Lauren! Couple of things that you may want to consider: how can you push that first paragraph away from a neutral tone? The end of the paragraph uses tone a bit better when you talk about wigs falling off and the kind of slapdash quality of the show. Consider how that contrasts the more neutral writing at the beginning of your paragraph. You can still tell us about the premise of the show, but make that negativity clear. The subjective paragraph is interesting when you talk about the changes that could have made it good/good, but keep it more focused on your preferences and experiences when watching the show (when you are being subjective).

  2. Also: your title can begin your argument! Go beyond just the title of your text.
