Be Reel - Rick and Morty

Recently, I have been watching Rick and Morty on and off, which was written by Ryan Ridley. Rick and Morty contains very funny, and easy to understand scenes but also contains comedy that requires a little more attention to detail and dialogue to fully understand the jokes. One glance at the show and it may seem like a stupid cartoon, and while you're right if you think this, it is a very funny stupid cartoon with decent plot and good character development. On top of this, it contains hilarious songs in the video that while they make little sense in how it helps them solve the problem, it makes for a hilarious show despite the stupidity of it all.

The writers are very creative with their characters and how they act, Rick with his uncontrollable burping makes him seem dumb, but he is redeemed through his inventions and ways of saving the day in the show. Morty suffers from being extremely nervous, and causes a lot of problems in the show which either he himself will have to save, or Rick will come in and save the day. My overall enjoyment of the show is very high, and I have not finished it yet but I enjoy it a lot. The comedy is great, and the plot from episode to episode is pretty good and entertaining when comedy is not present. And the character development makes you love and hate all the characters, so you can better understand them and what they do as well as what moves them to do certain things. The personas of each character remain consistant, and the overall enjoyment and objective quality remains the same from show to show. I would highly recommend this show to everyone, despite it looking weird, many will find enjoyment in the stupidity of the show as well as the jokes made throughout the show.

  1. Great depiction of what’s happening in this series, and I like that you include one of those hilarious songs in your actual post! Would like to see you address some of the specific choices in that music video so we can see what/when/how this is developing comedy. Just like your other post, this could really benefit from some more Justin in it. Where is that subjective analysis? Can you further explain or elaborate on your taste as to why YOU think it is funny? Let’s see that subjective analysis take a larger role!

  2. I really enjoy your explanation of the show.I also like how you go into explaining the the characters. While your blog does address your subjective perceptive, I think you could definitely talk about the show in a more objective way.I think it lacks an deep analysis of objective side of the show. You can also add more factors of plot development and mise en scene. You could also go into more depth about how and what makes the show so funny to you. I like the touch of the song and I overall agree with your opinion on the show Rick and Morty.
