The Room

I just watched The Room, and I have a lot that I would like to say about it. This movie, directed by Tommy Wiseau, whoever that is, was easily the most poorly directed and shot movie that I have ever seen. However, it was one of the most entertaining movies I have ever seen as well.

The Room was objectively terrible. Everything from the acting to the music was atrocious. The main character, Johnny, played by the director, seemed to speak with the same tone of voice throughout the entire movie. Also, many times during the movie, he would do the most fake laugh I have ever heard. The movie also seemed to have no real plot, and was very confusing at times. Some scenes in this movie were thrown in there for absolutely no reason, and had no relevance. They even used the same sex scene twice throughout the movie. The acting was the worst I have ever seen in any film as well. Not a single character in the movie had a single good scene. Additionally, the film was filled with cheesy music. The opening song also played many times throughout the movie.

On the subjective side, I personally thought this movie was incredibly entertaining. The acting was so painfully bad that it made me laugh throughout the entire movie. The sex scenes in The Room were so unnecessarily long and fake looking which made them impossible not to laugh at. Another thing that made me laugh was Johnny's laugh, because it was so fake and dumb sounding.

In the end, I have come to the conclusion that The Room is easily the most poorly made film ever created, and objectively there was not a single good quality about it. But, at the same time, all the things that made this movie so bad are the things that made it so funny and entertaining to watch. I would recommend this movie to anyone who gets a good laugh out of terrible acting, or just terrible movies in general.

  1. Wow Dalton, this is both an excellent review and blog about The Room. This movie sounds absolutely abysmal and the box office of $1,800 proves it. The budget was surprisingly over 1 million dollars so the people involved in the production of this movie lost all of their money basically. Despite this film having one of the worst box office sales I have ever seen, I think you may be too biased in your review. I noticed you employed hyperboles to accentuate your point but I think they take away your credibility as a truly talented young writer. "I have come to the conclusion that the Room is easily the most poorly made film ever created," and "he would do the most fake laugh I've ever heard" are some examples. I think you are being too biased and treat certain aspects as if they are objective when they are in fact subjective. You also stated that "the film was filled with cheesy music."But perhaps other audiences enjoyed the choice of music and thought it was appropriate. I think you need to find a common ground possibly between criticism and respect for other literature. Please heed my words so you can become the critic that we both know you can be.
