Blood Diamond

As i was browsing through Netflix to see which movie i should do for my Bee Reel movie evaluation I came upon the film blood diamond. This movie was released in 2006 and is a Thriller/Drama. This movie takes place in the 1990s with a civil War going on in the country of sierra Leon. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the film as a white fisherman from South Africa wanting to make money with the illegal diamond industry. A group of men who are rebelling against the government are causing chaos throughout the film. They are killing innocent men, women and children to show the government that they are ruthless. They also capture young boys to then train them and make them become killers. A man by the name Solomon is another main character in this film because he is looking for his family after it is torn apart by the rebels. The two stars (Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou) meet when Danny Archer agrees to help Solomon Vangundy find his family in exchange for a diamond that Solomon found while held prisoner in one of the rebel camps. They both agree on this and go on a journey to help Solomons family and also to retrieve the diamond.

Subjectively i really enjoyed this movie. There is so much action throughout the film especially in the more graphic scenes. I feel Leonardo DiCaprio did a good job in trying to be a south African and the way he acted throughout the movie. Also when they show the experience of how it is living a country during a Civil War was just awesome. This film does a good job in showing just how ruthless the rebels are to everyone in the country and also how they turn children into little killers. Especially when they capture Solomon's son a boy who wanted to be a doctor and loved school ends up being taken away from his family. This is a must watch film just because of how well it was made and because of how action packed it was. I would rate this film as a Good-Good on the be reel movie review.
