Recently I have been watching The Defenders on Netflix directed by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. It is a tiny American mini series where they combine superheroes into one show and have them work together. The protagonists of the series are Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil and the Iron Fist. There whole plan is to stop and defend the world from an organization called “The Hand”. I watched the individual series of these characters and I believe they were great. Luke Cage’s series plot and character development was unreal. He was a man who was indestructible. He used his powers for vengeance (gotta watch series to find out why), but took a wicked turn when he decided to use his powers for good. It was very creative for how the directors combined these superheros. Petrie and Ramirez made these characters fight each other in the beginning of the series and realizing they aren’t the enemies. Personally, I enjoyed watching this series and from the ratings others have as well.
The Netflix series contains an extraordinary amount of objective features. Character development created a very good impact on the series. They all were mass enemies with each other and then eventually realizing as the series got deeper they had to work together. One of the characters known as the “Iron Fist” had a dramatic character development. He was part of the antagonist group called “The Hand”. After realizing they wanted to use him for his power and kill him he started to fight against them. But at some points the acting and dialogue are not as good as the action scenes. Marvel is known more for their superheroes and special effects. The directors incorporated slow motion fights and very inhainsted their sound effects. Luke Cage would throw people into walls and you would see in slow motion the wall break and the gravel fly from the wall. Looking at Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb the rating to be somewhat above average. For IMDb they rate this series as a 7.7/10. These aren’t the highest numbers but it is still above average. Rotten Tomatoes also agree with IMDb and rate it 74%. But to me I believe the rating should be higher. I really enjoyed this series and the way they developed it. I hope they are able to come back strong from a good first season and make the second season even bigger and better.
