Sharknado 2 is of those movies that you're not quite sure why you ended up watching but are glad that you did in the end for some strange reason. The movie as a whole had very bad objective qualities but made up for the bad qualities with good subjective qualities. The film is filled with horrible cuts, confusing settings and plot, and the film overall is just a big mess. You can easily tell that they didn't put much or any time into the dialogue that each character had, or they just didn't care where they placed the scene. Like in one of the opening scenes when Fin (Yes one of the main characters is named after a shark fin) and April Find themselves in an airplane headed to some random location that isn't even specified to the audience but somehow find themselves in a Sharknado. The scene starts off normal with horrible acting all in between that leads to random chaos with the death of passengers. The whole movie is very similar to this chaotic patterns and has no flow through the plot, or character development. Yet all of the acting is so atrocious, and the scenes don't make much sense it makes it very easy to laugh about. For me personally this subjective quality of the movie out ways the unbearable objective qualities. Through the horrendous CGI and horrible intended acting made all very easy and funny to watch. some of my favorite clips throughout the film was when you would know that one of the characters were about to die and they went to die in the funniest way possible. This made the objective qualities bearable and overall a funny film. To conclude I would recommend watching this film with a bunch of your friends if you have nothing better to do on a Saturday night. It'll give you a good giggle and it most certainly won't be a film that you'll forget. I rate this movie as a “bad,good”.

ReplyDeleteI highly disagree with you on this rating. Although the movie can be entertaining at times, it is entertaining for all of the wrong reasons. The only time I laughed during this movie was at the bad acting, terrible CGI, and horrible plot. It is entertaining only because it is terrible. There is no character development, and the plot makes no sense. I believe you should have rated this movie BAD BAD. I am not here to tell you that your opinion sucks, I am just here to state my opinion against yours. Just some healthy argumenting. Anyway, to continue, the fact that this movie has 3 more after it, and one before, it beyond me. I know that the point of these movies now is to make them bad so that they are funny. Yet, subjectively, I am curious to dig more into your thoughts. I want to know more about why you think this is subjectively a good movie. I want to know what you found entertaining. I can see why you rated it as bad good, since it is so bad that it is entertaining. However, since it is so subjectively bad, I am curious as to why you decided to rate it good instead of bad, since it’s only entertaining because it’s bad.
