The movie Cabin Boy objectively is quite bad there is no denying that fact. This movie is low budget and quite frankly poorly filmed with bad special effects. The acting itself is quite horrible too. However the one redeeming thing about this movie is the screenwriting the comic lines in this movie stand out and make it bearable to watch. There really is nothing objectively satisfying throughout this whole film and if you watch this film you would agree. Also it is important to note that this movie had horrible critique ratings and showed the overall bad objective qualities for example rotten tomatoes gave Cabin Boy a 46%. Which again is showing the overall poor objective quiltys of this film and its lack of money spent on it.
However subjectively this movie is a personal best for me i loved the comic tones in this film. This movie truly uses its low budget to make a overwhelming hilarity due to its horrible special effects to create an ironic comic tone which i believe is quite effectively used. Another advantage of this film is the bad acting and the overwhelming stupidity of the plot which all leads back into comedy which was the main point of this film. The lack of objective qualities in my opinion really do sell this film. The closest comparison I could give this film would have to be Z nation on syfy it is another cheap product yet it has some redeeming qualities. Give The cabin boy 30 minutes of your time if you are not laughing till you lose your force then it is simple just not for you and I would understand that. Due to the lack of good objective qualities in this film and yet the great subjective enjoyment i got out the file i have to give it.
I really love that you take the challenge of describing a Bad-Good film instead of one of the more obvious good-goods or bad-bads. The paragraph breaks make for a really clear response, so we can definitely tell when you are focused on the objective v. subjective qualities. The objective stuff is very clear and you do a nice job of utilizing the Rotten Tomatoes score to justify what you’re talking about. The subjective transition is a really nice reward, because we get a sense of your personal taste and cinematic preferences. I like the Z Nation comparison and the very conversational tone that this blog deserves. Would have been a bit better if we could actually include a clip or trailer or something so we can actually SEE these hilarious (albeit terrible) series.
