January 15th DLB

Mr Rivers started class by making a Venn diagram between film and academia and how to merge them as a whole and be able to synthesize.  He was explaining the ways we can bring the topics of academia and film together when writing the literature review and how to synthesize them with evidence.  He then talked about shifting your research to be able to find a medium between academia and film.  To synthesize the two topics it should be fluid and shouldn’t be choppy in the way of talking about both.  My research process for my synthesis between film and academia got a lot easier with the use of the gale scholarly browser which basically only gave you legitimate articles that were valid and reliable when finding facts and learning about your topic of research.  My senior paper topic is on the present day problem of doping in sports and why it’s not okay and morally wrong.  My movie for the project is Captain America, and I speak on how he is literally looked at as a hero for being genetically enhanced to perform better physically and give him more physical abilities.   The gale search engine helped so much that I typed in “Captain America doping in sports” and boom, an article by 3 different bioengineers with masters degrees in bioengineering wrote an article about how Captain America being genetically modified is similar to athletes using the needle in sports today.  So I highly recommend the gale scholarly browser if anyone needs an extra article to pull research from it is very useful and highly affective.  Mr. Rivers highly encourages anyone with questions to email him before the Literature review is due at midnight tonight, but before 9’ o clock.  Good luck to everyone finishing their literature review tonight and I hope my recommendation can help at least one person.  Thank you for reading.
