January 8th DLB

Today on January 8th,  Mr. Rivers started the class with talking about our research paper and the research we are conducting in class right now.  He began to speak on that if you are conflicted in your research and not entirely sure on the topic yet, it is okay and you do not have to panic.  In his past of teaching, Mr Rivers explained it is not uncommon what so ever for a student to change their topic during the research phase and finish with a topic they did not start with.  To find the topic of your senior paper is very frustrating and can be full of anxiety.  The hardest thing I’ve had to deal with so far in my research process is finding the actual sources to use for my topic.  I have certain topics of a bigger topic in mind but it is very hard to find the right pieces of evidence that I need to complete my paper.  The topic of evidence that I need to prove the point I’m making in my paper I haven’t found yet and it is hard to get the perfect evidence.  As of right now I may have to alter my topic because of the difficulty I’m having but it may be much easier to find a new topic after seeing the research I have available and have found before on the certain topic that I have.  I feel most people are in the same scenario as I am because most of my classmates are not one hundred percent sure of their topics yet or just have a certain idea of what they want to write about.  Mr. Rivers urges anyone who is having problems with the research paper and finding a topic to email him or talk to him in class for help.  Thank you for reading!
