Christmas Vacation has to be one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time. It has character, insanely funny jokes and also a very relate able story line. What I mean by that is that we can all kind of relate to what Clark Griswold and his family go through around Christmas time. Grandparents are coming, Christmas is right around the corner, you have snobby neighbors and your father is pretty enthusiastic about every aspect of Christmas. Whenever I watch this movie it always puts me in the Christmas spirit.
This movie is the fourth of eight movies in the National Lampoon's series. National Lampoon was first created as a spin off magazine of the Harvard Lampoon. National Lampoon magazine basis was a humor magazine and ran from 1970 to 1998. This movie definitely has humor, from the beginning where Clark forgot to bring a saw when he dragged his family and him out to the wilderness to find the "Griswold family Christmas tree" and then proceeded to tie the tree to the top of their car, roots and all. To when cousin Eddie showed up unexpectedly and as Clark is greeting them he exclaims, "Oh, Eddie… If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn’t be more surprised than I am now…” Those are just a few of the jokes that are included in this hilarious film. If you are planning on watching this movie you don't have to watch the movies that came before this in the National Lampoon series.
By the end of this movie all is solved just like in every other Christmas movie but with an addition of charisma, wittiness, and most of all hilariousness.
