Class Blog: 12-18-17

12-18-17
Today was a day 3 and the goal of today was to make writing Authentic. We had this class first and started with a talk about what it means to be authentic is to make something original. The class came up with a definition of authenticity, and we came up with an answer that authenticity has To be honest and real and to make the writing genuine and sincere.  Then we went to the classroom page and had to answer a question that was posted on the classroom page. What do writers Really do when they write? And How is it similar to or different from what you did last Wednesday? 4 minutes was spent on the answer and in silent without talking to our table mates. After the 4 minutes came to the discussion of the question in groups. My group talked about how our work was authentic because we had to write the essay on the spot and we didn't have the essay already made in mind. Then back to a class discussion about how much time was a factor to how authenticity our work was. That with the 40 minutes of class time, there was a Lack of revision, and we had to rush to finish, so there was a limited revision to the first draft. Then an article was posted on the page titled “What Writers Really Do When They Write” by George Saunders. After the class read it, Mr rivers talked to us about the meaning of the reading. That writer revises their work. That they have more than just 40 minutes to create a piece of writing. Then he dropped a major hint on revising our letters. 2-3 minutes later that came true. Unfortunately or fortunately, it matters what kind of person you are, We are not done with this essay. We need to revise the essay for the due date of Tuesday at 11:59 P.M.
Connecting our lesson to the real world. Writers in the real world have time. They have time to write, revise, and even revise again. It took J.K Rowling 5 years to write her first book Harry Potter book. Her first Harry Potter book was turned down by 12 publishers before finally being made into a real book. And every single time her book was rejected, she would revise her work to figure out what she did wrong. Why was she turned down? Revising work is the key to a successful essay, or book, or any kind of writing.
