Today, March 6th, we analyzed how satire creates arguments. Satire is using witty irony and humor to

The target of They Came Together is typical romantic comedies. The tone developed throughout is
satirical. The choices that contributed to that tone are the scene where the main characters mock the
stereotype of him noticing what's different about her and them bonding over their love of fiction.

The target of The Simpsons intro is the company 20th Century Fox. The tone developed by Banksy is
depressing. The setting of the sweatshop adds to the tone along with the soundtrack of Schindler's List.

The intended perception is that 20th Century Fox is exploiting slave labor in Southeast Asia.
We also learned the differences between Horatian Satire and Juvenalian Satire. Horatian Satire is playful
and more forgiving of the target, such as in They Came Together. Juvenalian Satire is an extreme
critique to heighten the need for change, such as in The Simpsons.

The assertion of this is that comedies great chain of being helps to develop moral spectrum. The
judgement of a company or persons values become themes in comedy.
