Pocahontas: Inaccurate, But Fun For All Ages!

The other day I listened to the 90's Reasons Why Podcast on the original Disney Pocahontas movie. In this episode, the hosts structure the schedule for what to talk about similarly to their last episode 101 Dalmatians. They start off by talking about the classic Disney aesthetic the film gives off, whether it be with the movie's villain, or the main female protagonist. Then the hosts provide a lot of exposition to the plot of the film, in order to compare the film to the original story. Their claim being that Disney made this film to be very kid friendly while the real historical event is anything but kid friendly. Hunter then steps in to break down the films humor, providing examples of the films superiority theory through the raccoon Meeko, and the line "My bark is worse than my bite" stated from a talking tree. Although they structure this podcast similarly to the last podcast, I think this podcast does an excellent job of breaking down the core elements of this movie, ranging from the original story, to this inaccurate interpretation, to the themes that appeal to both children and adults.
