2/4/19- New Marking Period, New Me, and New Assignments

Today we began class signing up for our Daily Log Blog days, and discussed our Be Reel Blogs. We also started talking about how we’re going to get our grades back for our senior papers, and then we talked about our new film for this segment. We talked about how the Marking Period ends on March 29, and how we have new requirements for our blogs, with the Be Reel Blogs being held to a new, higher standard and a new length. The Be Reel Blog due dates are the first being due on February 28, and the second is due on March 29. We then started talking about genre, and wrote on note cards about comedy and one other genre in the TV show Atlanta. During the commercial breaks, we wrote on our note cards what defined each genre from the show. I wrote about comedy and drama. After we finished the episode, we discussed our chosen genres with our groups and how they applied to the episode. We handed in our note cards and finished discussing how the episode represents multiple genres.
This can be applied to a real world concept by taking other texts and mediums of entertainment and analyzing their genre, making it easy to understand how different directors, actors, authors, screenwriters, producers, and other creators can integrate genre. This will allow us to be able to work on making better assessments in both film and text, and allowing us to see a multifaceted medium of entertainment rather than fitting everything into one definitive category. This can make us better reviewers, and more skilled at analyzing different things, maybe even being able to view situations outside of review from different angles, allowing us to make more skilled assessments and responses to different problems that we face.
