On Monday, we began the class by talking about our Be Reel Blogs that are due by February 28, which is Thursday night. He told us that he has a higher expectation than the last two marking periods for our Be Reel Blogs because we have done a good amount of movie reviews, blogs, and even a senior paper meaning we are improving in the class, and so should our work. For this marking periods' Be Reel Blog, we must use 700-1000 words and post it on Blogger. The second Be Reel blog is due March 29. The movie review is graded based on the following criteria:
- Content (using evaluative language instead of summary, objective/subjective as appropriate)
- Organization of each paragraphs (topic sentence, evidence, and analysis of evidence)
- Voice & Style (balance of specificity and clarity of the analysis)
- Evidence (specific examples of textual or cinematic evidence)
After discussing the Be Reel Blogs, we watched the remainder of DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story directed by Rawson Thurber. It started off all of the Average Joe's members celebrating after winning all of their games before the final. They were at a bar in a casino in Las Vegas and while the rest of the team were having a great time, Peter La Fleur had a few too many drinks and leaves his friends at the bar. When he is leaving the casino, he is interrupted by Steve the Pirate coming out of the bathroom and when he asks "Where ye headed?" his usual pirate voice, Peter slams him against the wall and tells him "You're not a pirate". When he gets back to his hotel room, White Goodman and his assistant are waiting for him inside the room. When he goes in, the assistant locks the door and Peter sits down. White offers him a deal of $50,000 for the Average Joe's gym, and peter accepts the offer. White says "I don't think I'm a lot dumber then you thought that I think that I thought I was" which I thought was very funny. The next day, they all meet up at the same place they were the night before but Peter never shows up. When Kate does to his room, she finds out that he checked out of the hotel. When the group were walking through the casino, Amber (the cheerleader) finds Justin and tells that she needs his help for the cheerleading championship because her boyfriend fell off a rollercoaster and broke all his bones. He agrees to help and helps them win the championship.

While this was going on, the rest of the team were in the locker room and were still missing Peter, Justin and Steve the Pirate because of what Peter said to him the night before. Peter is at the airport bar watching the broadcast of the dodge ball tournament when all of the sudden, Lance Armstrong sits next to him and recognizes Peter. He asks Peter why he wasn't at the tournament, he told him he gave up. Lance then told him how he had 3 different types of cancer and still won the tour de France multiple times, and that convinces Peter to go back. Justin makes it back just in time to help them forfeit but right before it is official, Peter gets there and objects the forfeit, and the judges vote yes. When the match begins, Peter and Kate go out right away, and eventually everyone except for Justin. He dodges all the balls and makes a sliding catch to get Kate back in and as soon as she ran in, she catches one as well, bring Peter back in. Eventually, it is only Peter against White and his huge assistant. Peter gets the assistant out but White hits him right after. White thought he won until the referee called sudden death because he stepped over the line. Before sudden death began, Peter puts Patches O'Houlihan's rag over his eyes and was told to trust your instincts. White gets very cocky and thought he already won so he threw his ball at him, but somehow Peter dodges it and throws his ball which hits White and knocks him down, meaning they won. The ending is very happy, until White walks over and tells everyone that it does not matter that they won because he already sold Average Joe's to White. As it turns out, Peter invested all $50,000 that they would win and they had a 1/50 chance of winning, giving them $5,000,000 and eventually owning White Goodman's company because it was publicly traded company. This ending resolves nearly every chaos that happens in the film. For example, the chaos in the beginning of the movie was that their gym would go bankrupt if they could not make $50,000 in a month was resolved with $4,950,000 to spare. Another chaos that was resolved was after Peter told Steve he wasn't a pirate, he showed up in normal clothes with a normal haircut. When he tells Peter that he was right about what he told him, Peter asked him who he was going to split the buried treasure with. Make sure to post your daily blogs and be reel blogs!
