Horror Movie Parodies Review

      Horror Movie Parodies is a podcast that specifically focuses on comparing movie's horror parodies to their original counterparts. I enjoy the concept of this podcast because I do thoroughly enjoy horror parodies. I couldn't find myself agreeing with the points made by group member Logan on Scary Movie 2 in the beginning of the podcast. He comments on how the animation was terrible and the movie is more of a comedy rather than a horror film, the problem with his criticism is that the 'Scary Movie' series is not meant to be scary it is a parody meant to poke fun at classic horror films, since their podcast is based around horror parodies that all fall under the comedic genre I was quite confused as to why he was criticizing the movie for not being scary. The animation was also not meant to be mind-blowing, bad animation in a sarcastic parody movie adds to the comedy and sarcasm. Logan also mentions that the cast of characters is not memorable but since the whole 'Scary Movie' series has the exact same cast I would have to disagree. Another problem I noticed early on was very awkward silences although this can be excused since their group only had 2 members rather than 3 members. I did enjoy when the group started to analyze the characters and explained the scenes. This podcast group needs to reconsider what their goals are when analyzing film, personally I don't think the group should criticize the film based on how realistic it is when watching something as absurd as the horror move parody genre. The group should instead take the movie for what it is; a very ridiculous comedic film that is not meant to be taken seriously. If this group goes that route instead they could evaluate comedy in their movies rather than criticizing the movies for being unrealistic when the whole point of the movie is to be unrealistic and shocking.
