Feb 27th Daily Blog

In the beginning of the class, Mr. Rivers started with talking about the podcast activity the class did yesterday and set a reminder to BRING HEADPHONES on podcast listening days.  We then started with a question which was, “What if you could go back in time and talk to your group?”, regarding to the podcast that was recorded last Friday.  After wishing a nice good good afternoon to each other in the group, we went to the blog post.  As a group we ironically listened to the same podcast, and no one reacted to our podcast about Aliens(1986).  My group personally talked about what we can improve on by organizing before talking on the movie but we agreed on communicating well as a group and we agreed on our outro that Jack did and decided to keep it.  We came together as a class and talked about what each group can improve on on the whiteboard.  Subjects that other groups including our group wanted to improve were as follows:
  • Organizing
    • Pre-production
    • Arguments
    • Transitions
  • Connections
  • Characters
  • Spacing
  • Project and annunciate
  • Group connection
As a class we started to talk on the comedy genre.  We defined Chaos (Problems or conflict in the plot or world) and picked out chaos seen in the movie Dodgeball while watching the first 3 minutes of the movie.  White Goodman makes you feel bad about yourself for not being a member of globo gym and makes you hate him right off the bat of the movie.  An issue is the audience hates White Goodman very early in the movie but he is very successful when the audience wants him not to be at all.  Goodman also addresses that everyone should hate themselves and change, fat and bald = Necrophilia, cosmetic surgery is advised and more.  We then moved on to Cosmos.  Defined as solutions and celebration of life.  The scene we watched as an example of cosmos is the Average Joe’s commercial at the end of the movie that was the exact opposite of the hated Globo Gym commercial in the beginning of the movie.  That was all from today’s class.
