Today in Mr.Rivers class we continued our research for our senior papers. In class today Mr.Rivers reminded us that we have until tomorrow night to complete the chart that is posted on the classroom page. Also we were reminded that for our senior papers, in order to pass we had to be organized with bookmarks and folders, Discover our major players and their point of views, Develop an understanding of our audience, and to allow our research to open up new questions as we carve out a purpose for our papers. The movie that i chose for this assignment was the godfather and i am going to use that movie with my major being Criminal Justice. This film was perfect for my major because of all the topics I could use within the movie such as organized crime or just the Italian mafia in general. In my research i found both an academic and non- academic source through the database. Finding the information through the database is not challenging but to the find the right article that fits the description is very challenging especially if you do not use specific words in the search bar. The database in my opinion is a great way to find academic articles. In the beginning research was difficult because in the database there was thousands of articles if you were not specific in the search. As i continued researching more and more i became more specific and found both of my academic articles on the Italian Mafia and organized crime. What we have been doing in class connects to the world at large because we are using databases that students do not usually use and we are also figuring out what our film/TV show really means and what topics go along with that film or TV show. That is what we have been doing in class and also that is how what we have been learning connects to the world at large.
