Today in class we continued to research our topics for our senior paper. Mr. Rivers also reminded us that if we want to save our article we can’t just copy the URL because the URLs change and it will send us to a different page the next time we use it. In order to save the article you must download it to your computer or google drive.
The main goal for the research is to find the major players in our field we are exploring. The major players are things that are very influential which could range from people, like Neil deGrasse Tyson in astronomy, companies, like Google, Tesla, and Ford in the self driving car industry, or even events, like the Battle of Gettysburg in the Civil War. Once we find major players we would follow those players and learn more about them and refine what we will be discussing in our senior papers. Once w refined our search we are to take 2 articles and analyze the macro aspects of them. So rather than running a fine tooth come through the article we should just skim through and pick up the organization, style, and audience of the articles we chose.
For instance I chose the article “UAVs and the Military Leadership” and I found that it broke up the article by focusing on how the military and its operations have changed, how UAVs come into effect in military operations, and what commanders need to know how to do in order to effectively use UAVs. This all relates back to my 2 movies that I will be focusing on, Iron Man 2 and 3. I think I am going to focus on the autonomous suits in the movies, the AI behind them, and how they are mimcing what is really going on in the world from military drones to self driving cars.
All of this research we are doing will be due at the end of the day on thursday but we will not get any more class time to advance our research.
