Be Reel Blog: Pitch Perfect 3 an unprecedented end to a franchise

The Pitches are back again for another showing of the same jokes and style that had been worn out by the time the unprecedented encore had come to air. Pitch Perfect 3 was the trilogy that managed to take away from the plot and heartfelt story despite having a bigger budget and more big name stars. The third installment of this series reminds audience of other trilogies like The Godfather Part III and The Hangover Part III, both of which were drastically less fulfilling than their initial films and gives the feeling of a franchise looking to milk its name. The movie trades out its previous style for a system that focuses more on second rate sub plots that make the audience uninterested and some fans disgusted. The previous films focused on the group making a name for themselves or redemption, but this one was scattered and featured multiple wretched sub plots. One sub plot featured Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) and her long lost father (played by John Lithgow and a disgraceful Australian accent) who is trying to steal the money he left for her and ends up kidnapping the bellas. More subplots feature DJ Khaled playing a shameful version of himself and many love affairs between the bellas and random guys throughout the movie. The only saving grace of this movie is the exciting musical performances expected from the trilogy.
Objectively this movie was a disgrace. It had a much larger budget and still managed to be less successful than the two films before it. The acting was spiteful and the comedy that made the first two movies so memorable was tired and lame. Even the plot was terrible, actually its hard to say the plot was bad because its hard to tell what the main plot actually was. Obviously the movie would have to be rated as bad objectively. Secondly was the movies Subjective value and I was disappointed here too. I went into the movie hoping to enjoy this film as much as I did the first two and was greatly let down. Not only was the movie shorter with less entertainment but the little jokes and childish sense of humor I enjoyed in the the previous films was gone as well. All in all I would say that this movie was an incredible let down and I would not recommend it or see it again. This movie is a Bad Bad.
