Daily Blog 1/11/18

Today we began the first half of class discussing the specifics of the literature review that we will be working on in the coming days. The requirements for our paper are that it should effectively introduce the major speakers/topics/events pertaining to our subject. Mr. Rivers wants us to understand who plays an important role in the field we are researching and what these scholars are talking about so that we can use that understanding to narrow our research focus and further specify the topic of our paper. We were also told to distill the state of the conversation between the scholars of our subjects in order to effectively address the context of key debates that are happening in these circles and use that research to communicate what scholars are attempting to do/prove through their academic papers. How our cinema source interacts with the remainder of our research was also touched upon. Mr. Rivers added a tip for those who are easily distracted in class and suggested that they should make an effort to get more work done effectively on their own and at home in order to not fall behind in the senior research paper process.  He also added that a change in our own class routines could be helpful and increase productivity. After this discussion we were given the remainder of class to continue to work on the literature review preparation document that is due tonight.
