During class today, we spent the majority of the shortened period working on our #8.1: Literature Review. We complete this after our #8: Literature Review Preparation was handed in and yesterday before midnight. This Literature Review is basically to combine all our research from our preparation review into a 500-700 words “introduction” or review. Use the content and purpose from each article to help you answer, What academic conversations are happening about your particular topic? For the audience of the article, use your research to help you answer Which scholars/texts have you chosen to be in conversation with? For research, answer what evidence and methods are these contributors providing? For style, use your articles to answer what stylistic choices define the academic sources? And last, pay attention to the organization of your articles. On the same topic of organization, remember to keep all your resources, websites, articles, or anything you find useful to your topic in a folder in docs. Use bookmarks to keep the most important pages right in reach so everything is in one spot and ready to use. Another thing to keep in mind is to not procrastinate… our Literature review is due January 18 at 11:59 pm. While writing your review remember the notes on how to specify your topics and benefit your search.
Introduce major speakers/topics/events
-WHo is talking and WHat are they talking about.
-providing context and carving out your path.
-using precision to narrow research focus
-(Psychology… PTSD….PTSD treatment for veterans of afghanistan)
Distill current state of conversation
-What are these scholars saying to each other about your selected topic/question/idea?
-Key debates and other areas of contention?
-What are researchers (today) trying to prove?
-HOW are they doing it? (research methods)?
Call for research
-How does cinema contribute to this conversation?
-is RESEARCH responding to [film] and or is it [film] responding to research ?
-Which Films/characters/plot-points/themes/metaphors/all episodes ar you investigating?
Today’s class could relate to the world at large because it made me realize how important time management and organization could be. On the literature prep, I realized I could have finished it a but earlier and I need to keep up my organization of all my sources.
