The movie Black Panther has left nothing but a sweet taste in my mouth, wanting to just see what comes next in the world of king T'Challa. The Black Panther film also had a lot of hype built up before it's own film mainly due to the way Marvel Studios structured their films. Viewers who saw Captain America Civil War essentially got a sneak peak of the world that the black panther lives in. This way of formatting allowed for an extensive universe to be built, as well as go into great detail on the individual characters.
Each character in the film had a great actor to portray them, especially the lead role of King T'Challa/Black Panther as Chadwick Boseman. Not only were the fight scenes really intense but some of the acrobatics in combination with the CGI made the story feel more alive. In the beginning of the film we hear that Wakanda is a technologically advanced nation, although those parts are exemplified through the combined actions of T'Challa and Shuri. Shuri would provide his brother with cool new tech in James Bond esk way. Each new piece of tech would also be used in the main plot in some way shape or form. Shuri's actor Letitia Wright also did a great job acting as a younger sister, pulling pranks and even having a cool handshake with his brother. Essentially providing a comedic relief throughout the movie, but also became very serious when necessary. The actors used for the over all were fantastic, and even post film through out interviews and even seeing each other for other movies you can tell these actors really enjoy working together.
The film Black Panther itself was a long time coming. Not only do for its comic book fame but also for it featuring a majority of African american roles. Although the film does follows a basic plot, they kept it very interesting by giving its characters much more background history. Even at the beginning of the film before we even see the black panther we hear about the land he was raised in. Due to this great background it maid the lackluster villain kill-monger (played by Michael B. Jordan) so much more bearable. Knowing that the superhero and super villain had family history made knowing the outcome of this story very intriguing.
So is the Black Panther a great new movie, I would like to say so. It was a film that heavily discussed controversial topics about minorities and wasn't afraid to do so. It was also another movie in Marvels great line up to Infinity War. Overall a good watch and a solid third place on my list of best marvel movies.
