For the past months I have constantly watching Supernatural directed by Eric Kripke. This show about two brothers called Sam and Dean Winchester who travel the world fighting supernatural creatures. Sam (Sam Padalecki ) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are both really close when it comes to fighting these creatures. They started this job being led by their father John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). They engaged in this unorthodox job because when they were young a demon killed their mom and eventually killed their dad. A good friend of John named Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) took in the boys and taught the boys all they need to know to start the job by themselves. To start of the first seasons both brothers are both strictly focused on the job, but both characters experience personal things that affect their chemistry with each other. Both characters experience character development in many ways. Both characters grow in skill and learn to work together in the first couple seasons. Toward season 5 through 7 they begin to fight and the bond between them break apart. Dean ends up in Hell and when he comes back Sam is more afraid and distant with his brother. Also when Sam gets possessed by a demon Dean doesn’t know if he can trust him anymore. It takes many episodes for them two to become comfortable again with each other. Girls also play a big role in the show making the main characters focus on them more. Eventually they realize they both cannot support a wife with all the dangers lurking and the bond between them become even stronger. One thing I like about the series is the special effects really improved throughout. The witchcraft, the possessing of the demons, and also the weird animals really improved and made it more realistic. One thing I dislike is the fact how most of the episodes are very repetitive. There are 282 episode of Supernatural and it feels as if you watch the same one on repeat just with a different setting. There has been a recurring theme throughout the series. Focus on the mission at hand and don’t let anything interfere with your goal. This really shows throughout when they need to find out who is controlling all the demons and people that they love start to die. They don’t dwell on their deaths that long and start to find anyway to revenge their deaths. As of the netflix series I have watched my ranking would be…
- Hawaii Five-O
- The Defenders
- Supernatural
- Luke Cage
- Daredevil
Supernatural falls low on the scale one for the reason that it is very repetitive. For personal rankings ImDb ranks Supernatural at a 8.5/10. Also for Rotten Tomatoes they rank it 92%. Both extremely well rates even for a show that started back in 2005 and seems to still be doing strong. If I were to rank this between good, good or bad,bad I would rank it good, bad. It really has good plot and funny moments but once again the repetitive is boring.
