Be Reel - Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

What is there to say about Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (directed by Danny Leiner) is it the best film released this millennium?, It's too early in the millennium to tell, is it a worthless movie that will be left to rot in the dark corners of cinema  history?, no, anyone who thinks that is obviously not cultured enough to appreciate this fine peice of cinema. What can be said about this film that can sum up what it is. I got it, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle is a perfect film adaptation of the American Dream, it's so obvious it was staring right at me this whole time. from the get go we see two fresh college (Harold and Kumar) trying to find there way in life. Harold has a stable job working in an office while Kumar is burning bridges with medical schools that his father is trying to get him into. The two share an apartment and an affinity for cannabis. One night Harold and Kumar  are watching some T.V. and get a bad case of the munchies when suddenly as if it was God answering a prayer an advertisement for the fast food stronghold known as White Castle comes on. Harold and Kumar become infatuated by the very reasonably priced sliders and fries. Harold and Kumar decided to set out on an adventure across northern New Jersey to indulge themselves at the nearest White Castle. As straight forward of an mission as that sounds it quickly goes south.

Going back to what I said earlier in the review about Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle being the near perfect film adaptation of the American  Dream. On the surface many would say what are you talking about this is just some stoner comedy about getting the munchies. But those people don't see the art behind it, White Castle is just a metaphor for the American Dream. To most people White Castle is just some fast food restaurant but to Harold and Kumar it is more than that it's there one goal the thing they want most in the world, the thing they will work as hard as they can to get. With enough hard work and perseverance they got it, it finally payed off, they got there White Castle, There dream if you will. Now substitute that White Castle, Substitute it with your American Dream. It may look like just some run of the mill fast food place but to you it is your White Castle,  With enough hard work and dedication you will reach your White Castle™. It's because of this exceptional story writing and subjective enjoyment that I will be giving Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle a Good||Good I would like to leave you the reader with a quote from the film that has inspired me and I'm sure will inspire you, As our main Character Kumar so eloquently put

"So, you think this is just about the burgers, huh? Let me tell you, it's about far more than that. Our parents came to this country, escaping persecution, poverty and hunger. Hunger, Harold. They were very, very hungry. They wanted to live in a land that treated them as equals, a land filled with hamburger stands. And not just one type of hamburger, okay? Hundreds of types with different sizes, toppings, and condiments. That land was America! America, Harold! America! Now this is about achieving what our parents set out for. This is about the pursuit of happiness. This night . . . is about the American Dream! Dude, we can stay here, get arrested, and end our hopes of ever going to White Castle. Or, we can take that hang glider and make our leap towards freedom. I leave the decision up to you."
