The Film Ready Player One that was recently released in theaters directed by Steven Spielberg is a must watch. The film is not exactly like the novel that we read in class but was definitely well made. The featured the main character Wade Watts who lives in the stacks in Ohio same as the novel. In the beginning of the film the audience is introduced with the Stacks in Ohio and are given a background of what the film is actually going to be about. Holidays contest is mentioned from the very beginning explaining how Wade needs the three keys in order to win the grand prize of a couple billion dollars and save the Oasis from IOI. Wade Watts is introduced as a teen with a messed up family and the only way for him to escape reality is with the Oasis. In the film, the Oasis is portrayed as a place where everyone goes to escape reality and be whoever they want to be as shown in the film. All the way from kids to adults are shown playing on the Oasis trying to obtain the three keys. A specific scene in the film that i found interesting was the race for the first key. The fact that Wade was able to figure out that he needed to go in reverse was amazing. Even though the scene is not the same from the novel because different games and obstacles were used in the race. The love story between Wade and Artemis is shown in the film as well, especially when they are off the Oasis and in real life. A downside of the film in my opinion was how quickly Wade collected the three keys. The first two keys he obtained really quick and in the novel this was not the case. Another key difference between the film and novel was the main character Wade. In the novel he is portrayed as overweight and short and in the film he is the opposite. Overall the film did a great job in portraying the novel and actually being able to see the film was a difference experience then reading the novel. Ready Player One in my opinion is better than the novel and i highly recommend this film the next time your in the theaters. I would rate this film as a GOOD GOOD.
