Be Reel: The Office

In the wise words of Michael Scott, ¨Friends joke with one another. 'Hey, you're poor.' 'Hey, your momma's dead.' That's what friends do,¨ (The Office). This quote is basically the epitome of this series. Everything that happens escalates as a such a fast rate. One minute everyone is working and doing what they are supposed to be doing and all of a sudden Michael Scott will blast in and either propose a plan that is so obviously going to end badly or he will say something so out of the ordinary that it will take you a minute to wrap your head around it such as, ¨"The worst thing about prison was the Dementors. They were flying all over the place and they were scary and they'd come down and they'd suck the soul out of your body and it hurt!" (The Office). Now this episode was the Prison Mike episode and Michael was trying to make everyone believe him when he says that prison is scary and a bad place. So to accomplish that he uses a Harry Potter reference to scare his fellow employees. This is after the fact that Michael discovered that a new worker, Martin Nash went to prison and is now making it seem that prison was more fun than working at Dunder Mifflin. So Michael takes matters into his own hands and pretends that he is ¨Prison Mike¨ who went to prison for stealing, robbing and kidnapping the presidents son. What did I say about escalating at such a high rate. Dwight K. Schrute is also a very odd person on this show, but he is also one character that really makes this series take shape, but that could also go for every character in the show because every character from Stanley to Meredith has their niche that they always stick to. Pam and Jim have huge crushes on each other, Dwight has a beet farm and is a very intense person, Phyllis likes to knit, Andy loves to sing in falsetto, Stanley is sassy and likes crosswords, Creed is so shady, Meredith likes to drink and is not shy about it, Oscar is a smarty pants, Kevin loves to eat and has a look on his face that he did something but no one noticed yet, Angela is just mean, Kelly doesn't shut up, Ryan thinks that he the best thing that has ever happened, Toby is a voice of reason but no one ever listens to him (especially Michael), and finally Michael is enthusiastic, very high strung but yet the greatest person ever, because in the end we can all relate to Michael when he says this, “Sometimes I start a sentence, and I don’t even know where it’s going. I just hope I find it along the way,” (The Office). This quote explains us all in some way, maybe we don't know what we are going to do with our life and we just kind of figure it out as we go along, but let's face it that's all of us. So maybe we can't relate to Michael Scott in every single thing that he does but certain things like this we can all relate to.
