Analysis using social and political lens

Today in class we discussed how to

• apply social and political lenses to analyze narratives

and

• interpret theme in horror

The first things we discussed was using a social or political lens when analyzing film or text.

Although, these are not the only two lenses used to analyze text and film. There are

multiple including

CINEMATIC lens - links between product and craft

ENVIRONMENTAL lens - links between product and environment

SOCIAL Lens - links between product and society

POLITICAL lens - links between product and politics

Then we read a quote by Jordan Peele that touched how he thinks of modern day racism

and oppression, we analyzed his quote using a social and political lens.

Political Minorities have less power and are being suppressed

Social Racism is there, but there being silenced

Lastly, we watched and analyzed the first 10 minutes of Jordan Peele’s GET OUT using

a social and political lens.
