Today in class we discussed the differences between social and political lenses. Social lenses in a movie effect the product and society. Also it effects the people, community, and relationships. While the political lenses effect the government, and who has the rules and power. Mr. Rivers then challenged us to look for some of the lenses in a high school cafeteria. We said the seniors having more power over the freshman while choosing tables is a political lens because of who has power and who doesn't. The social lens applied to the different groups of friends sitting at the tables.
The second half of class we continued watching the movie Get Out by Jordan Peele. Mr Rivers reminded the class to look out for some of the lenses in the movie so we could start applying the information. We can see a Political lens with the power being in the hands of the white house owners and the people with less power being the house keepers. Mr Rivers also reminded us the our BRB is due by midnight on Wednesday.
Some good information here for anyone who might have missed class. Good paragraph break to help differentiate the two halves of class. Keep pushing the specific details of our daily events! Don't forget that every blog should have an extension that connects some aspect of the day's learning to the world at large.
