Hacksaw Ridge (Good, Good)

Hacksaw Ridge was a movie that came to theaters in 2016, This movie showed what one soldier went through. Desmond Doss, was a War Hero. He saved 75 soldiers lives from the Japanese during World War 2. This was a extraordinary feat, Desmond did all of this without carrying a weapon or even firing a shot. Desmond Doss risked his life several times to for his country and his brothers in arms, This is a true story. This movie is not meant for children, it is a bloody, and violence filled movie. The movie shows Desmond's relationship with his father and how much his father has gone through. Desmond's father who is a drunk, but he is also a veteran. Desmond's father started drinking after returning from war. He did this because he lost a lot of his friends in World War 1. All throughout the movie everyone tells Desmond he won't survive because he refuses to use a weapon, his wife and family believe in him. The lighting and angle choices were amazing for this movie. The movie was well made.

This movie was amazing by my standards. This movie was about Desmond who was a combat medic. I found it to be interesting, for once it was a war movie not focused on the actual fighting soldiers. It briefly showed characters and gave them personalities and traits, but the movies focus was on Desmond. A war movie that is all about a combat medic who refuses to kill, or even touch a weapon. I found this to be amazing. I usually enjoy war movies that are based off of true stories, I like to learn about history through these movies. This movie showed me a battle that I have never seen before. Most movies don't show the battle for the islands during World War 2. Most World War 2 movies that are about fighting the Japanese Empire show Pearl Harbor or even start off with this event. In Hacksaw Ridge it is only mentioned once, it is never shown. Desmond uses it during his trial, he was put on trial for not following his commanders orders. The orders went against what he believed. He won the case because the general sent a letter saying his rights were protected by the supreme court. Desmond went through hell to save his brothers. Even people he didn't like he saved. He refused to leave people behind, the only reason Desmond left the ridge was because he was chased off of it. This movie overall was a really good watch, from the trailer I didn't think I would like it because it was a war movie focusing on someone who refuses to shoot, but in the end I enjoyed the movie and I think others would too.
