Truman show
The Truman show is a movie starring Jim Carrey. The film focuses on Truman’s life which is a fake world he lives in. The only person that doesn’t know its a fake world is Truman. Everyone around him are actresses or actors that have been cast to be in that role. The show plays 24/7 a day seven days a week all the time. Since Truman was a baby he was placed into this bubble that became his reality. At a young age Truman had a fear of water, this fear was generated by the director of the show. The director wanted Truman to be afraid of water so that he never would try to travel, and if he ever did he’d hit one side of the bubble. The show is on tv and people in the real world watch  Truman’s life up until Truman leaves the bubble, once he figures out its a fake world of course. The movie is objectively good since the film places a lot of emphasis on philosophy. The film can relate very well to the allegory of Plato’s Cave. Plato’s cave is a story which talks about being trapped in a cave and being unaware that the cave is not real life. The cave has puppets that illuminate on the walls of the cave by the fire behind them. The people in the cave are unaware of what’s behind them. One of the people in the cave is released from the cave and becomes enlightened by traveling to the real world, and learning the truth. In the Truman show the main character Truman was also enlightened once he learned that the world he was living in was in fact staged, once Truman left his so called “cave” he became enlightened. The movie makes the story of Plato’s Cave more enjoyable to the 21st century audience.

The movie is entertaining and enjoyable, although it is hard to watch since you learn that everyone Truman had in his life was lying to him. Truman's so called mother was an actress that knew Truman wasn’t her son. Truman’s wife was an actress that was cast in that role from the start. Everyone in Truman’s bubble was cast in that role, which made it hard to watch that no one told Truman earlier. The movie has a happy ending, in which Truman get over his fear of water. Truman sails away not knowing that he would eventually hit a wall in the bubble that lead to stairs going into the real world. The ending of the movie is enjoyable, since Truman leaves the fake world behind and enters in the real world. After Truman walks up the steps and leaves the movie ends. I like this since the audience has to decide what Truman goes on to do, and how he manages in the real world. The movie is objectively and subjectively good since it makes the philosophers point interesting in the 21st century. The movie gets a good good rating even though it is tough to watch Truman’s so called family and friends lie to him the whole time. Since at the end of the movie you see Truman going on to uncover the truth and using it to set himself free.
