Be Reel: Enough of J.Lo's Bad Acting

While learning about human behavior and family in sociology we watched the movie, Enough starring Jennifer Lopez. The film follows a waitress, Slim (J.Lo) who falls in love with a man named Mitch who, stood up for her after being treated like a "prize to win" by a different customer. The beginning of the film has strange title cards in between scenes such as: "to have and to hold" after they get married, or "our happy family" when Slim and Mitch have a child. They look very out of place because the current scene cuts to black and shows these unnecessary cards.

The movie quickly takes a turn, as Slim's husband starts to hit her. There is barely any background on the couple besides the one scene of them together in the diner. After that, they're immediately married and have a child. So it seems very rushed to have a conflict right away and have the movie escalate that quickly. Really, the only thing that shows that time has passed throughout the movie are the different longer wigs that J.Lo wears throughout the movie.

After J.Lo gets beat by her husband initially, she knows she doesn't want to be treated like that so she takes her child and runs away from her husband. Somehow, she already had a plan, and has not one, but TWO backup cars in two different locations- filled with cash, new clothes, and best of all, more wigs! All in case if her husband finds her. (SPOILER: he does. three times.)

I would have to put this movie on the Bad-Good category. While yes, the acting was worse than the wigs and the entire movie had a lot of plot holes, I found it funny to watch. (Which is probably not the best thing to admit.)
If you want to see J.Lo break into a house, booby-trap it, crawl on a ceiling, wear a bunch of bad wigs, and sit through a painfully cringy fifteen minute fight scene, then Enough is the movie for you.

This article has no useful information but made me laugh, and references the wigs and other ridiculous things I've mentioned.
