Daily Blog 5/9/18

Hello Everyone,
Today during class Riv's shared out aside from the usual good-good morning that he was called down to a meeting and promised that he would be back during the second half of class. None the less he opened class up today with a brief intro into exposition within a narrative. We then watched a short video from Rocket Jump film school that was a clear reference to the famous John Carpenter film was Escape from New York. What we took away from the video was that exposition has two forms within a narrative. We learned from our short video that within a film exposition can be shown through dialogue and imagery present throughout the film. For example within the video exposition was presented to us through things like character visuals and setting.
Moving outside of the classroom I chose to tie in 2 films  that have been on my mind ever since I watched them not that long ago and had scenes that clearly represented  both types of exposition. For exposition through dialogue I chose the classic scene from the 90's heist film Heat where our main protagonist and antagonist sit at a dinner and reveal their intentions towards each other. The scene follows Al Pacino's persistent police officer and Robert De Nero's slick thief as they lay out quiet threats towards each other. The other scene that I chose to relate to class today is an 80's classic The Lost Boy's during the famous reveal scene where Micheal ( and the audience) discovers that David and his friends are vampires. No actually words are said during the reveal which makes the scene more of a visual exposition, and feel free to check these scenes out in the links below.
