Final Project Intentions --> things to keep in mind
Today we started class by reviewing what we know about our intentions. In class yesterday we worked on writing intentions using the VERB + THING + TACTIC equation. We continued working on writing these intentions. Mr. Rivers is having conferences with everyone about their intentions and how they plan to complete them through their project. Those who have finished with their intentions and talked to Mr. Rivers can start their screenplay project. Don’t forget that once you start your project that part of the grade of the project is keeping a “journal” on the work you complete in class everyday. When working on our projects, it is important to keep the end project in mind with your intentions that way as you go through your project you can make sure you hit all of the goals you had for your project. It is also important to remember what we learned from Noah. He told us that our pitch isn’t the place to show our voice and should be more formal whereas our actual screenplays can show more voice and creativeness. When I met with Mr. Rivers about my intentions some of the advice and concerns he had were about the similarity between the intentions. My intentions were mostly thematic which raised concern over how to be able to accomplish both. But after further explaining my ideas it was clear that both were accomplishable. So, if your intentions are similar make sure you have an idea about how to achieve each one in it’s own way.
When writing these attentions something to consider is why we write them. By writing attentions we are giving a framework and setting goals for what we want to accomplish for our work. This is something that goes beyond just English class and can apply to real-world work that everyone will very soon be doing in the future. For example, for those who go on to college, this is a skill that could be helpful whether doing a scientific research type paper, a thesis, or narrative typewriting. By writing the intentions of your work down beforehand it can help to guide and keep your work on track which is important for really anything you want to accomplish, not just writing.
