Daily Log Blog 5/2/18

To start off class we discussed about what Noah had said to our classes yesterday and we pulled out some key points from the discussion. "Focus on the final project". This is the quote that Mr. Rivers wrote on the board and the main topic of today's class. We took this quote and broke it down into what it really means. We started off with intentions. What are your intentions for this query letter and how are you going to accomplish your intentions? You should think what your project should do. What do you want your query letter to accomplish and how are you going to do it? You want to stay objective and professional in your query letter, while explaining how you are going to accomplish these goals. We then went over a type of final project that you can do called an audio play. An audio play is the section that is yellow and require you to type 10 pages of script and podcast. Mr. River then proceeded to show us a good example of one called Misadventure by Donald Margulies. We listened to about six minutes of it and it gave us a sense of what the tone is and what the characters are like. The audience is really able to feel the emotions of the characters and get a sense of how they react to things. As the discussion was coming to an end we lapped back around our main point. Think about what your intention are. Whether you are filming, writing, acting, think about your text does. Again, what do you want your query letter to accomplish and how are you going to do it? With the reminder of class we were allowed to work on our query letters.

This idea of focusing on the final project is a great life skill to have for college and your life in the real world. What are intentions in life and how are you going to accomplish your goals in life? If this means finishing college, getting a job, or even doing chores, how are you going to do it? With out some type of plan or motive you will not succeed in reaching your goal. This seen every where in the real world. People are setting plan for there future and are taking steps to accomplish them. If you are sent out into real world with out a plan and intentions you will never be able to accomplish anything. Today's class gave us a insight on our query letters, while also giving a good example of life skills. You need to focus on the end game and without planing you will not able to accomplish your intentions.
